Five-Arm Brass and Glass Bridal Bouquet Chandelier by Itsu, Finland, 1950s
Open here
An original and rare Finnish chandelier by Itsu from the 1950s, combining an elaborate brass structure with five unusual pale pink opaline glass shades. The softly colored glass is a particularly special feature of this example, giving the chandelier a delicate character and setting it apart from more commonly seen Itsu lighting with white or cream-colored opaline glass shades.
The brass structure is particularly decorative, with perforated leaves, fine branches and small coiled details resembling flowers and buds. Each of the five glass shades is positioned at a different angle, creating an organic composition reminiscent of a bridal bouquet. The botanical theme and detailed metalwork represent the more decorative side of Finnish lighting design during the 1950s.
The rare pale pink shades are the defining feature of this chandelier. When illuminated, the opaline glass takes on a soft, warm glow, while the color remains subtle when the light is switched off. Combined with the elaborate bouquet-like brass construction, they make this a particularly collectable example of Itsu’s decorative lighting from the 1950s.
