A modernist pendant lamp produced by Stockmann in the 1950s. The lamp combines a cylindrical opal glass core with an outer shade in deep violet glass, creating a layered effect of light and color. The form is geometric yet soft, with the translucent glass diffusing a warm, even glow. Brass fittings and original ceiling canopy complete the piece.

Stockmann, the Finnish department store founded in 1862, was an important retailer and commissioner of design in the mid-20th century. Their lighting selection often reflected the modernist ideals of postwar Nordic interiors — simple forms, natural materials, and attention to function. In both its form and use of layered glass, this pendant shows affinities with the work of Lisa Johansson-Pape and Yki Nummi, two of Finland’s influential lighting designers of the era.

An authentic piece of 1950s Finnish design, this pendant adds a gentle yet graphic presence to interiors.
