Hand-Carved Wooden Table Lamp, Wartime Craft, 1940s

A charming and highly sculptural hand-carved wooden table lamp from the 1940s, made as a wartime craft piece. Objects of this kind were typically created during spare moments, resulting in uniquely personal and expressive designs.

This example is particularly special, as the underside bears a hand-written dedication and date: “Ainolle (For Aino) 1944”, adding a deeply personal and historical dimension to the piece.

The lamp is carved from solid wood with a warm, honey-toned patina. Its organic, almost figurative form is complemented by a shade constructed from thin wooden segments, carefully joined and decorated with small carved detailing. When lit, the shade emits a soft, warm glow.
