Hand-Crafted “Juuso” Pine Stool by Tervasaaren Puutyötehdas, Finland, 1960s
Open here
A charming and characterful “Juuso” stool produced by Tervasaaren Puutyötehdas in Finland during the 1960s. Crafted from solid pine, the stool features a beautifully shaped, slightly concave seat with expressive grain patterns and a warm, natural patina.
This example is particularly desirable as it retains its original unstained finish—something rarely encountered, as many were darkened. The lighter tone allows the natural character of the pine to stand out, emphasizing the craftsmanship and organic quality of the material.
The design is simple yet sculptural, with four splayed legs that give it a sturdy stance and a distinctly Nordic, rustic-modern appeal. The hand-crafted nature is evident in the subtle variations in the wood and shaping, adding to its authenticity and tactile quality.
Perfect as a seating piece, side table, or decorative accent in both traditional and contemporary interiors.
