Maria Lindeman Model 1-2 Brass & Frosted Glass Chandelier, Idman, Finland, 1950s
Open here
An elegant six-arm chandelier designed by Maria Lindeman for Idman during the 1950s. Model 1-2 combines softly curved brass arms with sculptural satin-frosted glass shades and decorative crystal pendants suspended from delicate brass branches. The contrast between the warm brass, translucent crystal details and matte white glass creates a refined composition that feels both light and decorative. The chandelier embodies the graceful side of Finnish mid-century lighting, balancing ornament with clean, functional design.
Produced by Idman, one of Finland’s most respected lighting manufacturers, this chandelier reflects the company’s post-war focus on quality materials and sophisticated craftsmanship. Maria Lindeman is known for a number of distinctive lighting designs created for Idman during the 1950s, often characterized by elegant proportions and subtle decorative details. The crystal pendants add a gentle sparkle when illuminated, while the frosted shades provide a soft and pleasant diffusion of light.
A beautiful choice above a dining table, in a living room or as a statement piece in a bedroom. The chandelier brings warmth and atmosphere without overwhelming a space. Its combination of brass, glass and crystal works equally well in mid-century interiors and more eclectic contemporary settings, adding character, light and a sense of timeless Finnish design heritage.
