Model 51145 Brass & Glass Chandelier by Mauri Almari for Idman, Finland, 1950s
Open here
A sculptural five-arm chandelier designed by Mauri Almari for Idman in Finland during the 1950s. Model 51145 is executed in polished brass with softly shaped opaline glass shades, each decorated with a subtle circular motif. The arms extend organically from a central stem, creating a balanced and expressive form that feels decorative yet controlled.
The chandelier reflects Almari’s characteristic approach to lighting, where functional clarity is combined with ornamental detail. The floral-inspired brass elements gathered at the center introduce a gentle organic note without overwhelming the structure. When illuminated, the glass shades produce a warm, even light, softened by the circular pattern. The brass surfaces display a natural patina, adding depth and character.
Well suited as a statement light above a dining table, in a living room, or in an entry hall. The chandelier adds warmth, rhythm, and a distinctly Nordic mood to a space, working equally well in mid-century interiors and contemporary settings.
