Model ER99 Brass Pendant Light with Counterweight by Itsu, Finland, 1950s

An original Finnish pendant light with counterweight mechanism, produced by Itsu in the 1950s. Model ER99 features a softly domed brass shade paired with a cylindrical brass counterweight, suspended by white cord. The shade is subtly perforated, a functional detail that allows light to escape upward and around the rim, creating a softer ambient glow in addition to the directed downlight. The form is clean and balanced, with gentle curves and a calm, graphic presence. The brass surface shows an even patina with visible surface marks that reflect age and use.

The adjustable counterweight system allows the height of the shade to be altered with ease, reflecting mid-century modern ideas of flexibility and user-oriented design.
