Model ’Sam’ Leather & Chrome Office Chair by Sam Larsson for DUX, Sweden, 1970s

Original and rare ’Sam’ office chair designed by Sam Larsson for DUX, Sweden, in the 1970s. The chair combines original dark brown leather with a chromed tubular steel structure, padded armrests and a five-star base on casters. The upholstered seat and curved backrest feature button tufting, while the warm patina of the leather contrasts beautifully with the polished chrome.

Larsson designed the ’Sam’ chair in 1973, with production beginning at DUX in 1974. The design is built around a visible tubular steel structure, with a distinctive leather strap connecting the backrest at the rear. The office version adapts the same design with a swivel base, casters and manual height adjustment, creating a comfortable and functional desk chair.

A rare office version of Larsson’s ’Sam’ design, considerably less commonly seen than the standard dining chairs. This example retains its original brown leather, with natural creasing and patina developed through use. Its adjustable height, swivel function and casters make it a practical working chair while retaining the strong character of 1970s Scandinavian design.
