Opaline Glass and Brass Chandelier by Sievä, Finland, 1950s
Open here
A Finnish mid-century chandelier by Sievä, crafted in the 1950s. The lamp features three handblown cream-white opaline glass shades, each mounted on gracefully curved brass arms. The brass structure has a warm aged patina that highlights its vintage character, while the softly rounded glass shades create a diffused and inviting light.
Sievä was one of the smaller Finnish lighting manufacturers active during the mid-20th century, producing quality lamps that combined functionality with decorative detailing. This chandelier reflects the Nordic modernist approach of the 1950s — pared back but still expressive, with natural materials and organic forms defining the design language.
The chandelier’s balanced proportions make it versatile: well-suited for a dining area, living room, or as an elegant accent in a smaller space. Its timeless mix of brass and handblown opaline glass brings both warmth and refinement to an interior.
