Pair of Bamboo & Rattan Lounge Chairs with Red Painted Finish, Finland, 1940s
Open here
A striking pair of mid-century lounge chairs crafted in bamboo and rattan, produced in Finland in the 1940s. The chairs feature an expressive organic form with curved armrests, sloping backs, and a sculptural open weave construction.
Finished in a vivid red paint, now beautifully worn, the surface reveals a rich patina with areas of peeling that expose the natural material beneath. This aged finish gives the chairs a bold, characterful presence while highlighting their handcrafted construction. The patina contributes to their distinctive character.
The combination of lightweight structure and generous proportions makes them both visually dynamic and comfortable, suitable for indoor use or covered outdoor settings.
