Pair of Golden Art Glass Table Lamps by Flygsfors, Sweden, 1960s
A pair of sculptural table lamps by Flygsfors, Sweden, from the 1960’s. The lamp bases are crafted in golden mercury glass with a bold stacked form, their mirrored surfaces reflecting and amplifying light. Each lamp is paired with a simple conical beige fabric shade that enhances the warm tone of the glass.
Mercury glass, also known as silvered glass, involves applying a reflective layer inside a double-walled glass form, creating a luminous, mirror-like effect. Flygsfors, active from 1888 until 1979, was among Sweden’s leading glassworks, known for its technical experimentation and modernist approach to decorative glass. These lamps exemplify how the workshop translated expressive glassmaking into functional design.
Graphic and atmospheric, the pair makes a strong addition to both vintage and contemporary interiors. Their golden sheen introduces warmth, while the sculptural bases lend character and depth to a space.
