Pair of Leather and Aluminium Lounge Chairs, Sweden, 1970’s

A pair of Swedish lounge chairs in black leather and brushed aluminium, produced in the 1970’s. The design features a flat-bar aluminium frame with gently curved armrests, paired with deep, tufted leather cushions that provide both comfort and presence. The understated finish of the brushed aluminium contrasts with the richness of the leather, giving the chairs a balanced and modern expression.

While the exact designer remains unknown, the chairs bear strong resemblance to the modernist seating produced in Scandinavia during the late 1960’s and 70’s. The flat-bar aluminium frame recalls designs by Karl-Erik Ekselius for JOC Vetlanda as well as Eric Sigfrid Persson, who designed modernist furniture for Gärsnäs. This fusion of robust materials with generous leather cushions is characteristic of the era’s search for durable, modern lounge furniture.
