Pair of Modernist Lounge Chairs by Elna Kiljander, Koti-Hemmet, Finland, 1930s

These elegant tub chairs beautifully embody the softer side of early Finnish functionalism. About the Designer:
Elna Kiljander (1889–1959) was one of Finland’s pioneering female architects and designers and a key figure in the development of Finnish functionalism during the 1930s. In addition to her architectural work, she operated the interior design store Koti-Hemmet in Helsinki, through which she designed and retailed furniture and interiors that promoted modern living ideals. The store became an important platform for introducing functionalist aesthetics to Finnish homes, combining practicality, elegance, and carefully considered proportions.

Furniture connected to Koti-Hemmet remains rare and represents an important chapter in early Finnish modern design history.
